Fulani Herdsmen Sack Benue Community, Take Over Territory

Despite efforts by the Federal and Benue State governments to end clashes between herdsmen and farmers, indications emerged yesterday that Moor, a council ward in Kwande Local Government Area of the state had been sacked by armed herdsmen.

Vanguard learned that the crisis, which dates back to 2013, has left over 100 persons dead, scores sustaining varying degrees of injuries and close to 8,000 displaced.

A source said: “Moor in Kwande Local Government Area is now an occupied territory. Herdsmen have sacked the inhabitants from their ancestral homes and taken over the council ward.

The crisis started as far back as 2013 and has led to the death of over 100 persons and many others injured.

“All the local government clinics, including 21 primary and secondary schools in the area, have been completely destroyed. The indigenes of the community are refugees in other communities.”

Corroborating the story, the Executive Secretary of the Benue State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA, Mr. Boniface Otese, said the agency had been making concerted efforts to avail the displaced persons necessary relief materials.

When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, Moses Yamu, said police, military and other sister security agencies were working round the clock to ensure that peace and normalcy returned to every trouble spot in the state.

Fayose Is On The Road To Self-Destruction – Prof. Sagay (See Funny Pic)

PROFESSOR Itse Sagay, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, is the chairman of the Presidential Committee on Anti-Corruption and one of the country’s foremost experts in constitutional law.

A human rights activist, Sagay has undoubtedly paid his dues in the struggles for egalitarian society.

Sagay who was part of the pioneer law class of the former University of Ife, subsequently took to academics and rose to become the dean of the law faculty of his alma mater before transferring his service to the University of Benin.

At the height of military rule in 1986 he was one of those who ran into trouble with the authorities of the University of Benin for supposedly teaching what he was not paid to teach; which was an axiom for his perceived inclination to the promotion of civil rights in the university campus.

In this interview, Sagay takes a swipe at the Senate for initiating the amendment of the law establishing the Code of Conduct Bureau and also faults the National Assembly for the controversy trailing the 2016 budget.

He also berates Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State over his letter urging the Chinese government to rescind its decision of a $2 billion loan to Nigeria.

Excerpts:

But what do you have to say to what Governor Ayodele Fayose has done in writing to the Chinese government not to grant Nigeria any loan?

I think Fayose has a problem. The way I see it is that, the man who is on the brink of destruction has no restraint about what he does.

To start with, what is the business of a state governor about a loan that is being given to the federal government?

Is it right for him to take such a step?

He has no business. In fact on the contrary, it is when a state government wants to take a loan, that it will require the federal government to guarantee the loan.

So, he has no business at all and I regard him as being on a journey to self destruction and I wish him luck.

Let him continue to destroy himself with his mad impulses.

Enugu police arrest member of a robbery and car-snatching gang after a shootout, recovers stolen car

6 members of a robbery and car-snatching gang engaged operatives of Enugu State Police Command in a shoot out along Enugu/Port Harcourt road. One of the suspects identified as Henry Ifeanyi Odo was arrested with charms at the end of the shoot out. Below is the statement issued today by the Command:

“A car snatching/armed Robbery victim identified as one Okechukwu Atuegbu resident in Port Harcourt Rivers state has showered praises on the Nigeria police Force Enugu state command over their swift answer to distress call which led to the recovery of his snatched/Robbed Cars as well as arresting one of the gang member who is now helping the operatives in their investigations,

It was gathered that the victim on 16/4/16 at about 2pm at independence layout axis of the state as he came to briefly see his in-law from Port Harcourt and to drop his kids at their Enugu based school,were waylaid by a group of armed men numbering about five already laying siege against him with an alleged snatched peugeot 504 car.

It was further gathered that the gun men closed him up and snatched his Toyota Lexus car white in colour with registration number Rivers NCH 907 ST and headed towards Enugu/Portharcourt Express road Enugu and based on Distress call raised Police operatives of Enugu command swung into action and encountered the hoodlums at Enugu/Portharcourt Express way and after a shoot out with the hoodlums recovered the snatched/stolen toyota lexus and arresting one of the suspects identified as Henry Ifeanyi Odo with charms.Suspect is now is helping the police in their investigations which has commenced in full scale.”

Artist who painted unclad Donald Trump painting worth $1m says she has been threatened with legal action

The Artist who painted a unclad Donald Trump worth $1m says she has been threatened with legal action if the painting is sold. The unclad Donald Trump painting which shows the ‘imaginary’ Trump with a small man-hood went on sale last month at the Maddox gallery in Mayfair and was named “Make America Great Again” by artist Illma Gore.

The painting went viral after she posted it on her facebook page. The Los Angeles-based artist now says she has received a phone call from an anonymous number threatening legal action if the painting was sold.

“They claimed to be from Trump’s team,” she told the Independent. “I drew Trump unclad, I was evoking a reaction from people… so I tried not to think about it until I spoke to a lawyer who suggested I go to the police about it and file a report in case something happens,” she said.
