Finally, US Agrees To Release $480m Abacha Loot To Buhari

United States has finally agreed to repatriate to Nigeria about $480million believed to have been stolen by the late Head of State, General Sani Abacha and his family members.

Already, the conditions for the repatriation of the cash and other details are being worked out.

Also, it was learnt that the Department of Justice in the United States now has a Kleptocracy Unit, which assist to track looted funds and money laundered by public officials from Nigeria and other nations.

According to The Nation, the planned repatriation is the outcome of the meeting between President Buhari’s Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami (SAN), Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission( EFCC), Mr. Ibrahim Magu the Department of Justice.

A source, who spoke in confidence, said: “This is the largest loot ever traced to a former Nigerian public officer in the US. The DOJ, the AGF and the EFCC have concluded all the talks; we are in the process of repatriation of the $480million.

“Although there are interventions from private lawyers, DOJ prefers a government-to-government deal. I can tell you that the funds will soon be repatriated. If there is anything left, it has to do with the conditions which the US will attach to the utilisation of the funds.

“The US is likely to advise on specific areas to spend the funds on and the project monitoring mechanisms. It does not want the cash re-looted.”

Ancient Roman Villa Uncovered In British Backyard

The remains of an ancient Roman villa were unearthed in England by a homeowner laying underground electric cables. Parts of the upscale home, built around 220 AD with at least 20 rooms on the ground floor, were found under the backyard of a 17th century home near the town of Tisbury in Britain’s Wiltshire area after an eight-day archeological dig sponsored by Historic England and the local Salisbury Museum.

“The discovery of such an elaborate and extraordinarily well-preserved villa, undamaged by agriculture for over 1500 years, is unparalleled in recent years. Overall, the excellent preservation, large scale and complexity of this site present a unique opportunity to understand Roman and post-Roman Britain,” said archeologist David Roberts of Historic England.

Parts of modern-day Britain were in the Roman Empire until the 6th century AD. The find was uncovered when the owner of the backyard, Luke Irwin, was rebuilding an old barn and sought to add electricity. After some digging he unearthed a floor mosaic only 18 inches beneath the surface, leading to the archeological quest.

Exploratory excavation revealed the walls, and estimates that the structure was three stories tall and over 300 feet long. Experts also identified a planter Irwin had been using to hold geraniums as an ancient coffin for a child. The dig also uncovered coins, jewelry, animal bones and oyster shells which were brought inland from the British coast, suggesting a family of wealth and influence lived in the villa.

Owl’s Ring Delivery Goes Spectacularly Wrong At Canadian Wedding

A trained owl that was supposed to deliver the rings at a Canadian wedding instead took an ill-fated flight for freedom that ended with a crash.

The video, posted to YouTube by ViralHog, shows an owl named Max take off from its trainer’s arm when it is summoned to perform its duties by a man saying, “Max, come here!” Max appears initially to head toward the couple, but makes a turn and flies toward the back of the church.

The owl seems to be making a break for freedom, or at least some fresh air, but he ends up with neither when he crashes into the glass window and falls to the ground.

The video’s caption says the owl was hired to deliver the rings because the bride was “a big fan of owls.” The video was filmed Sept. 12 of last year but only went viral when it was posted to YouTube this week. “The owl is OK,” the post says.

17-Year-Old Boy Caught In Attempted r*pe Of 7-Year-Old Girl In Jos

One Ikechukwu, 17, was apprehended by the police for an attempted r*pe of a 7 year old girl in Jos in the early hours of yesterday, 17th April, 2016. This happened at Rukuba Road.

It was gathered that Ikechukwu was brought from the village to serve as a house help in the house of the abused teenage girl. Ikechukwu spent just two weeks before his boss sent him to school to further his education (currently in JSS3). No one knows he has an eye on one of their daughter. Not up to 2 months he lived with them and he decided to explore his bad intention.

Ikechukwu who was in the kitchen tried to force himself on the little girl when she came in to get what her mother asked her to bring from the kitchen. In the process of forcing himself to get access on the girl, she screamed so loud and this attracted the presence of her mom and others who are at home. That was how she was saved.

Ikechukwu has being handed over to the police and also sent packing by the boss whose child was about to be abused. The little girl has being taken to the hospital for further test to know if she’s Ok.

Mother Bites Off Daughter’s Ear For Sleeping With Her Boyfriend In Delta

An Alleged polyandrous wife identified as Chiekube Igbinosa in Akumazi community, Ika North East local government area of Delta State, at the weekend allegedly bit off the daughter’s ear and stabbed her with broken bottles over her boyfriend. Sources said the fight took place around camp 74 behind Ibori Golf course within the Asaba campus of the Delta State University. The 46-year-old woman said to have been the first love of an Ibo building materials’ trader who was said to have been deported to Nigeria three years ago from Spain. The loverboy allegedly hoodwinked the woman’s daughter into a relationship.

The girl in question who recently graduated from a university in the South-south region was visiting her mother after her Youth Service in Rivers State. While their love relationship blossomed, the unsuspecting mother kept showering the lover boy with gifts, including part of her monthly salaries. But this was not to be when the daughter identified as Mabel Igbinosa flippantly opened up to her friend about her relationship with the Igbo man building materials trader, including how he made love to her. The mother was on red alert after the friend secretly let out the discussion to her.
Expectedly, the woman had gone to the Igbo man’s house wearing unsuspecting appearance around Okwe Quarters, Asaba when she was sent to Mile 5 not too far from the man’s residence to buy fish while the daughter who sighted the mother ran into a neighbour’s room to hide. Upon her return from Mile 5, she was sent on another errand by her boyfriend faraway from the house.She knew something was up and hid around the neighbourhood and after a few minutes, the daughter sneaked into the man’s room where the bubble burst. Sources said the mother stormed a nearby neighbour’s room where she laid siege waiting for her daughter to come out.
Hell was let loose after what was described to be marathon s*x exercise, the girl sauntered out of the room, unknown to her that the mother was around. She was said to have pounced on her and allegedly bit off her ear before stabbing her with broken bottles. During the fight, police were invited to the scene where they whisked away the woman, daughter and the lover boy to a police station. But the police public Relations officer of the state, DSP Celestina Kalu who confirmed the arrest of the woman and others, said investigation was ongoing in the matter, adding that the daughter had been taken to the hospital for treatment.

Exposed: Those who masterminded Gov Fayose’s impeachment

– The former speaker of the Ekiti state House of Assembly has accused Tope Aluko, of masterminding the attempts to impeach Ayodele Fayose as governor of the state.

The former speaker of the Ekiti state House of Assembly has accused Tope Aluko, of masterminding attempts to impeach Ayodele Fayose as governor of the state.

Dele Olugbemi the former factional Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly has accused former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Secretary, Dr. Tope Aluko, of masterminding the attempts by the 19 former All Progressives Congress (APC) lawmakers to remove the state governor, Ayodele Fayose.

He insisted that Aluko was at a reconciliation meeting with Fayose in a Lagos hotel, which was he facilitated.

Olugbemi, in an interview on Saturday on EKITI 91.5 FM, alleged that the Aluko had been on the payroll of the All Progressive Congress (APC) for more than one year and was working to destabilise PDP.

The former speaker, who is now a commissioner in the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), claimed that Aluko took him to Lagos and Osun states during his tenure in the Assembly to lure him into an impeachment plot against Fayose.

He said: “When I was the Speaker, Aluko was the PDP secretary. I have never seen a traitor like him in my life. He was the one who initiated and facilitated an arrangement with the APC towards using the House to impeach Fayose. He took me to Osun and Lagos for the arrangement.

I refused to do this and that strained our relationship. But we resumed our relationship shortly after the end of my tenure as speaker.

“When I discovered that he was always scheming against the governor and conniving with enemies to impeach him after about one and half year into this government, I decided to call him and advise him. I told him that in politics there cannot be permanent enemies but permanent interests. I told him joining another party would not help, that as for me, I prefer to stay in PDP.

“I am so surprised that he could denounce and rubbish a peace meeting I brokered between him and the governor. The CCTV camera has the details of all that we discussed with the governor inside the Eko Hotel.

Aluko remains our lost sheep. We will welcome him home anytime. He has worked for our party and deserves his reward but he has to stop this bad attitude of his and show genuine repentance. Fayose is the father of all of us and he has a large heart to accommodate all,” he further said.

In another development, the Ekiti state government has said that it will not reply to claims by Tope Aluko, that he was forced into reconciling with Fayose.

This was contained in a statement issued by Lere Olayinka, the special assistant to the Ekiti state governor on public communication and new media on Wednesday, April 6. Olayinka accused Aluko of being “a perjurer and an unstable character, who speaks from both sides of his mouth.”
